North Carolina Troops, 1861-1865: A Roster: Andrew S. White is listed as a Private in Co. C, 10th Regiment N.C.S.T. (1st Regiment N.C. Artillery). Enlisted in Mecklenburg County August 15, 1862 for the war. Present and accounted for through February 1865.5
North Carolina Civil War Pension Application: A.S. White applied for a North Carolina Civil War pension on 2 July 1923 at the age of 81. In the application he indicates he enlisted in Co. C of the 10th Battalion in July 1862. The pension was granted.4

Veteran White Dies at Casar
Ninety-One Year Old Confederate Buried Sunday At Clover Hill, One Comrade Survives
Andrew Stevens White, better known as 'Andy' White, age 91 years
and a veteran of the War Between the States, died Saturday at his
home in the Casar community.
Mr. White served for three years as a soldier in company C, North
Carolina Field Artillery in Poag's Battalion. He never complained
of the hardships he had to undergo and served as a faithful soldier.
After the surrender he came home and on September 28, 1873 married
Miss Lydia Ann Willis, to which union six children were born. His
devoted companion preceded him to the grave five months ago to the
day from the time he was buried.
Church Leader
Mr. White professed faith in Christ in young manhood and joined
the M. E. church South at Clover Hill. He served as superintendent
and teacher of Sunday school for many years and lived a fine Christian
life. He was faithful to attend church until his health would not
permit his going.
Six Children
Laban Queen of upper Cleveland is now the only survivor of the
Confederate army company to which Mr. White belonged. Surviving
are the following children: Mrs. J. J. Hoyle of Lawndale RFD;
Mrs. R. A. Ivester of Belwood RFD; Mrs. A. P. Walker of Casar;
Miss Florence White of Casar; W. J. White of Hickory; J. Curtis
White of Belwood RFD. One brother A. N. White [? ... ... ... ... ... ...]
brother William [? .]. White at Joplin, Mo. Also surviving are 34
grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren. His grandsons and granddaughters
served as pall bearers and flower bearers. A great throng of people
attended the services Sunday conducted by Rev. J. M. Barber assisted
by Rev. C. E. Ridge.7

Mrs. Andy White Dies at Casar
Aged Woman Succumbs To Pneumonia. Buried at Clover Hill Church
Mrs. Andy White, age 80 years, died at her home at Casar Wednesday afternoon
at 4 o'clock following at attack of pneumonia. She had been sick all summer
with pellagra. Mrs. White was married to Andy S. White Sept. 28th 1873 and
the parents and children were devoted to church and home. She was a member
of Clover Hill Methodist church where the funeral took place Thursday afternoon
at 2:30, services being conducted by Rev. J. M. Barber.
Surviving are her husband and the following children: Mrs J. J. Hoyle,
Mrs. R. A. Ivester, Mrs. A. P. Walker, Miss Florence White, and J. C. White
of the Casar community and W. J. White of Hickory. Thirty four grand
children and [? ..] great grand children as well as one brother, Jesse Willis
and one sister, Mrs. John Kennedy also survive.8
