I Philip Logan being called upon
to defend my country, and as life is uncertain, and death
sure and certain, I hereby make this my last will
and Testament and in the first place I commit
my Soul and Body into the protecting hands of God
And second I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife
Sarah, all my personal property, and my real estate to
belong to her and under her control her lifetime or her
widowhood, and after her death, or if she should
marry again, then my land to be equally divided be-
tween my children, and the personal property to be
sold and equally divided between my wife and children
And third I hereby appoint and constitute my kind and
trusty friend, (John Whisnant) my executor to carry
out and enforce the will and Testament

North Carolina Troops, 1861-1865: A Roster: Philip Logan is listed as a Private in Co. H, 30th North Carolina Infantry Regiment. Resided in Cleveland County where he enlisted at age of 43, September 22, 1863, for the war. Present or accounted for until he died "in Virginia" on November 1, 1864, of disease.12
